Great budget option in city centre but some odd rules

I work on a hybrid basis in the area of Beresford in Dublin and stay one night in Dublin weekly. Price sensitivity meant I stayed for the first time in the Beresford recently. I found it much better than expected. Recently renovated lobby area very stylish. The rooms and corridors reflect the age of the hotel but saying that are freshly decorated bed is comfortable with good linens and bathroom is good. The DART runs close to the building and with the curtains open commuters were looking into the room however the double glazing kept the noise out which was great. There was some noise from the room above which woke me up once. Overall I would be happy to stay again. Now, my second experience was killing time before going to dinner with a work colleague. I decided a week after my stay that I could drop into the bar and have a glass of wine while waiting. Receptionist stopped me and said bar is residents only. I left. Seen a sign outside that said bar open to non residents book table via this phone number. I booked went back in and had a glass of wine. Why is this necessary. I won’t consider it as an option again for a quick stop off. Very off putting. So in summary, it could be a regular place for me but was put off by being turned away. Never happened before in my experience and I have been travelling for many decades.

On arrival I had to wait for around 10 minutes before I was able to check in, however my room was worth waiting for. On opening my room door I was pleasantly surprised at the layout of the room. It was just so nice. The room was very comfortable and cosy, and one of the nicest hotel bedrooms I have had the pleasure of staying in for a very long time. My room was in the 500s. I was advised to take the lift to the 1st floor. Stepping out of the lift I then had a flight of stairs to climb, and while doing that I couldn’t help but stop and gaze @ the lovely old-style paintings on the walls going up. It was all just so nice. I don’t think I could have been made more comfortable. Breakfast in the restaurant was a very pleasant experience. I was made very welcome. It has a low ceiling with a unique lighting system and all very plush indeed. There is on offer cooked breakfast as well as continental breakfast. I was very impressed with the large selection of food available for continental breakfast, and for me it would be on an equal match with the Hilton Hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland for having such a large display of food to choose from. It had simply everything. Irish hospitality is @ its finest in The Beresford Hotel Dublin. It’s highly recommended for comfort and style as well as brilliant customer service. I would not hesitate to stay here another time.

The hotel has very friendly personnel, especially the Japanese employee working in the bar and the breakfast room. Also people at the reception desk are very helpful and friendly, they try to solve any problem as fast as they can. Food at the bar was very good.

I cant say enough about the hotel and the staff!!! (Robert, Manager, Deyse, Julian Maria, Natlalia, Livia and Ivan (Great Bartender). I was visiting Dublin with my niece (her first time) and wanted a central location, this hotel was perfectly located, close enough to walk anywhere, but quiet enough so you can sleep at night. I first contacted the hotel about a week before our trip and wanted to double beds and he was very helpful in arranging that for me. They were so helpful with recommendations for bars, restaurants and things to see and do in and around Dublin. The advise was so helpful. I had been to Dublin a few times and still the recommended things that I had not seen. Julian was especially great!!!! I would give this hotel and staff 10 plus stars if I could. Thank you all for a great experience and we will definitely be back!!! SLANTE!!! Lee and Tiffany
